61. The perch.

This is from Feathers, Furs and Fins, a comic strip I tried to sell in the late eighties. The words have been slightly updated.

59. Wulf Greybones drinking from a brook.

Concept art from the animation project Wolf's Blues.

It won't be long before the real wolves are on the first journey with their April-born pups. At route's end, the rest of the pack will meet and greet and sing with the new members.

Wolves in the wild love to sing. They sing when they're happy, sad, before a hunt, after a hunt, to mark the pack's territory, to celebrate that they just woke up, or that they're going to sleep... There's always a good reason to do some howling.

Man, I love those creatures.

Young wolves in Kristiansand Zoo. Haven't seen them in the wild. Yet.

58. The Untranslatable Creek.

Usually, I attempt a translation into English of the local names, but this time dialect makes it damn near impossible. This turn in the small river is called SĂ„deholla, of which I at least understand "holla," which is local dialect for "the hole." The creek itself is called Kalvelstemmen or Kaldvell Stemmen, which I can't translate at all.

The Untranslatable Creek is located about half an hour's drive from my hometown...

55. Thunderbird.

Okay, you may claim that Thunderbird doesn't fit into the box "fresh water images." But it does. Those clouds are full of H2O.

What follows is the only REAL flash of lightning I've managed to shoot, in 2005.

STORM OVER TUSCANY.

While the thunder storm was directly over our house, a gecko took refuge in our kitchen. Remember you can press the images for larger views.

STILL LIFE WITH LIZARD.

GECKO ON THE WALL.

The old Etruscan town we lived in, a gem in southern Tuscany.

54. PONDeRINGS.

You could see A Place In The Sun, the first drawing of this collection, last time. From here on, the idea is to present one or two new Ponderings-pieces in every article, and also include art and/or photos which are - at least slightly and most of the time - related to the "headliner(s)" or title(s). Which in this case are ...

REMAINS OF A DEAD WINTER.

THE FINAL JOURNEY.

I'll finish with a few shots of dogs playing, which have no relation whatsoever to the themes of the day. I just liked 'em. But I guess you could say the three Alaskan malamutes are celebrating spring, or something. Whatever. Until next time!
